White House Easter egg hunt: Your child left behind--if you're gay

Jesus didn't say, "Howsoever you mistreat the least of these, you do in my name." In fact, he said just the opposite. He also didn't say, "Let the little children suffer indignities if their parents are gay."

White House changes Easter Egg Roll admit process

LGBT families 'moved from front of the line'

After waiting outside overnight to be among the first to enter this year's White House Easter Egg Roll, families in line were surprised to learn that the White House had changed the ticketing policy for the annual event, PageOneQ has learned.

The unannounced change means that the families who waited in line the longest, in one case for twenty-four hours, will not be among the visitors at the event's opening ceremonies. The first families in line, who were not part of the LGBT family group, received tickets with an 11:00am entrance time, two hours later than the opening time listed in the White House press release.

Bible contradictions abound, but don't blame God for what men do

The men who "wrote the Bible" were fallible, just like you and I. Look for concepts, the main idea, and you'll be fine.

Who was at the Empty Tomb? Is it :

MAT 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

MAR 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

JOH 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

How long was Jesus in the tomb?

Depends where you look;

Matthew 12:40 gives Jesus prophesying that he will spend "three days and three nights in the heart of the earth"

Mark 10:34 has "after three days (meta treis emeras) he will rise again". As far as I can see from a quick look, the prophecies have "after three days", but the post-resurrection narratives have "on the third day".

Jesus' last words

Matt.27:46,50: "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, eli, lama sabachthani?" that is to say, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" ...Jesus, when he cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost."

Luke23:46: "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, "Father, unto thy hands I commend my spirit:" and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."

John19:30: "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished:" and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."

Judas died how?

"And he cast down the pieces of silver into the temple and departed, and went out and hanged himself." (Matt. 27:5)

"And falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all of his bowels gushed out." (Acts 1:18)

Whom did they see at the tomb?

MAT 28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

MAT 28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

MAT 28:4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

MAT 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

MAR 16:5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

LUK 24:4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

JOH 20:12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

Christian (sic) Coalition of Alabama: Lying, Corrupt, Theofascist Bullies for Jesus

The Christian Coalition of Alabama (CCA) is accusing trial lawyers, without any evidence, of funding an anti-Christian agenda through its contributions to judicial candidates. That's a whopper, and CCA knows it. CCA leader John Giles has surely not forgotten that he has criticized trial lawyers in The New York Times for contributing nearly a million dollars to the 2004 campaigns of three conservative Christian candidates for the Alabama Supreme Court. Those candidates advertised that they share the same judicial philosophy as former Alabama Chief Justice Roy S Moore, the "Ten Commandments" judge, who wants to remake America as a Christian nation.

So why is CCA engaged in a baseless smear campaign over judicial contributions? Maybe it's because the agenda that the CCA is pushing these days is not so much a pro-Christian agenda as a pro-corporate agenda. And maybe they're trying to distract conservative Christian voters from the fact that the CCA is embroiled in a scandal over its acceptance of $850,000 in contributions that trace back to one of the Indian tribal clients of convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

"The Legend of Flight 93" is just that

Somerset crash site, September 12, 2001: Where's the wreckage?

The line is, "Roll it," not "Let's roll."

Though they studied the recording, the 9/11 Commission found zero evidence that the passenger revolt succeeded, that they made it into the cockpit and, as Bush claimed, "took the plane into the ground." Tom Kean & Co. offered only conjecture: "The hijackers remained at the controls but must have judged that the passengers were only seconds from overcoming them."

Yes, he lied about it

I now have a third credible source who tells me wreckage from Flight 93 was found eight miles from the impact site.

Bush's tax policies move US closer to feudal theocracy

The United States is the most inequitable advanced nation in the world.

It’s no secret that the Bush administration has showered high-income groups with federal tax benefits. Nor is it news that income and wealth is highly concentrated at the top. What have gone largely unnoticed, however, are new signs that outside of Washington, state by state, the public is quietly beginning to challenge the privileged position of those at the top.

Theofascists declare war on everybody

Slapping the Other Cheek
By Maureen Dowd
Sunday 14 November 2004

You'd think the one good thing about merging church and state would be that politics would be suffused with glistening Christian sentiments like "love thy neighbor," "turn the other cheek," "good will toward men," "blessed be the peacemakers" and "judge not lest you be judged."

Yet somehow I'm not getting a peace, charity, tolerance and forgiveness vibe from the conservatives and evangelicals who claim to have put their prodigal son back in office.

I'm getting more the feel of a vengeful mob - revved up by rectitude - running around with torches and hatchets after heathens and pagans and infidels.

One fiery Southern senator actually accused a nice Catholic columnist of having horns coming up out of her head!

Bob Jones III, president of the fundamentalist college of the same name, has written a letter to the president telling him that "Christ has allowed you to be his servant" so he could "leave an imprint for righteousness," by appointing conservative judges and approving legislation "defined by biblical norm."

"In your re-election, God has graciously granted America - though she doesn't deserve it - a reprieve from the agenda of paganism," Mr. Jones wrote. "Put your agenda on the front burner and let it boil. You owe the liberals nothing. They despise you because they despise your Christ." Way harsh.

The Christian avengers and inquisitors, hearts hard as marble, are chasing poor 74-year-old Arlen Specter through the Capitol's marble halls, determined to flagellate him and deny him his cherished goal of taking over the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Not only are they irate at his fairly innocuous comment after the election that anti-Roe v. Wade judges would have a hard time getting through the Senate. They are also full of bloodthirsty feelings of revenge against the senator for championing stem cell research and for voting against Robert Bork - who denounces Mr. Specter as "a bit shifty" - 17 years ago.

"He is a problem, and he must be derailed," Dr. James Dobson, founder and chairman of Focus on the Family, told George Stephanopoulos.

Sounding more like the head of a mob family than a ministry, Dr. Dobson told Mr. Stephanopoulos about a warning he issued a White House staffer after the election that the president and Republicans had better deliver on issues like abortion, gay marriage and conservative judges or "I believe they'll pay a price in the next election."

Certainly Mr. Specter has done his part for the conservative cause. He accused Anita Hill of "flat-out perjury" for a minor inconsistency in her testimony against Clarence Thomas, that good Christian jurist who once had a taste for porn films.

After fighting ferociously for months, federal prosecutors relented yesterday and agreed to allow a Connecticut library group to identify itself as the recipient of a secret F.B.I. demand for records in a counterterrorism investigation.

The decision ended a dispute over whether the broad provisions for secrecy in the USA Patriot Act, the antiterror law, trumped the free speech rights of library officials. The librarians had gone to federal court to gain permission to identify themselves as the recipients of the secret subpoena, known as a national security letter, ordering them to turn over patron records and e-mail messages.

The Rise of Fascism in America

It's been rising for five years. We can make it fall this November.

Fascism in America won’t come with jackboots, book burnings, mass rallies, and fevered harangues, nor will it come with black helicopters or tanks on the street. It won’t come like a storm—but as a break in the weather, that sudden change of season you might feel when the wind shifts on an October evening: Everything is the same, but everything has changed. Something has gone, departed from the world, and a new reality will have taken its place. All the old forms will still be there: legislatures, elections, campaigns—plenty of bread and circuses. But “consent of the governed” will no longer apply; actual control of the state will have passed to a small and privileged group who rule for the benefit of their wealthy peers and corporate patrons.
To be sure, there will be factional conflicts among the elite, and a degree of debate will be permitted; but no one outside the privileged circle will be allowed to influence state policy. Dissidents will be marginalized—usually by “the people” themselves. Deprived of historical knowledge by a thoroughly impoverished educational system designed to produce complacent consumers, left ignorant of current events by a corporate media devoted solely to profit, many will internalize the force-fed values of the ruling elite, and act accordingly. There will be little need for overt methods of control.

The rulers will act in secret, for reasons of “national security,” and the people will not be permitted to know what goes on in their name. Actions once unthinkable will be accepted as routine: government by executive fiat, state murder of “enemies” selected by the leader, undeclared wars, torture, mass detentions without charge, the looting of the national treasury, the creation of huge new “security structures” targeted at the populace. In time, this will be seen as “normal,” as the chill of autumn feels normal when summer is gone. It will all seem normal.

EXCERPTS

After 9-11, Captain Goldman raised concerns about discrimination, harassment and demeaning remarks and behavior directed against him, and more significantly, against his faith. He was being harassed and demeaned by Christian fundamentalist chaplains and military officers at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He raised these concerns through channels, in the proper manner.

Naturally, we all know that the U.S. Army doesn’t discriminate, that there is equal opportunity regardless of race and religion, and the U.S. Army is a secular organization.

Not like the U.S. Air Force, of course. The Air Force Academy suffered months of bad publicity and has recently been sued by an academy graduate and others, alleging religious discrimination by Christian fundamentalists in uniform and within the system.

Admittedly, the U.S. Army has been under a cloud of Christian fundamentalist zealotry with the very public existence of Lt. General William "Jerry" Boykin, currently Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence. General "My God is bigger than your God" Boykin has put forth the idea that the one true (and Army sanctioned) religion is his own.

When Rabbi Goldman departed the U.S. Army, before his term of duty had ended, he consulted with his military superiors and was told he could depart and separate from the U.S. Army. Unfortunately, the proper paperwork was not completed. Needless to say, the Army’s own investigation of Rabbi Goldman’s complaints was concluded in a way favorable to the Army. The U.S. Army believes that no discrimination occurred, and that Rabbi Goldman was just imagining that Jews and other non-fundamentalist Christians were being treated disrespectfully and badly.

Meanwhile – as Joseph Heller so beautifully captured in Catch-22 – the U.S. Army also realizes it has a shortage of rabbis to serve its Jewish military population. Rabbi Goldman has still not been replaced at Fort Stewart, currently lacking a rabbi for the sizeable military community there. Elsewhere in the Army, the pressing need for rabbis has been met by the use of non-ordained Jewish cantors.

(snip)

Joseph Heller must be looking down on us, laughing, as I write this, because he knows exactly what I am going to say next. Rabbi Goldman’s Green Card expired January 7, 2002. Rabbi Goldman’s service waiver expired January 7, 2003. Thus, for Rabbi Goldman to satisfy the Army he will need to cross the U.S. border illegally and remain illegally in this country until he has faced the Army’s charges against him.

Goldman is not a U.S. citizen, and is currently ineligible to serve in the U.S. Army in any capacity. Further, he could be arrested upon his return to Fort Stewart. Because he is not a U.S. citizen, after his arrest could then be sent without further charges to Guantanamo, where he could be detained without access to any legal help or media exposure for as long as our Dear Leader (President George W. Bush, of course!) desires.

(snip)

Beyond a simple Catch-22, something far more wicked then bureaucratic bungling seems to be at play in the fields of the Department of Defense. Lack of DoD accountability for its mistakes is nothing new, and each day brings fresh hell in this regard. But when constitutional protections of employees are systematically trampled or ignored (whether concerning whistleblowers on intelligence and procedure, or religious intolerance and promotion of Christian evangelicalism in the U.S. military), we have a problem. When the U.S. military trades common sense and a Common Law tradition for a neo-Napoleonic Code of aggressive, autocratic State accusations against the presumed guilty, we have a problem.

Thus far, the U.S. Army demands that Rabbi Goldman return to face charges, even as they recognize his return to this country will require him to violate U.S. immigration laws. If this weren’t a true story, involving real people, it would be hilarious, preciously suited to an Abbott and Costello routine.

But it isn’t an Abbott and Costello routine. This is what you get with an out-of-control Leviathan state, led by zealots who obtusely confuse religious association with righteousness and good works.

That means Cheney makes money, too.

As head of Halliburton and as U.S. Vice President, Dick Cheney lobbied to remove sanctions against Iran to allow his business to profit off the Iranian dictatorship.

In other news from Iran, the country announced this week the discovery of one of the largest oilfields in the world. Some 38 billion barrels of oil are believed to be in the oilfield found in southern Iran making it one of the most lucrative oil finds in years.

Iran says they are looking for foreign companies to invest in the oilfield. It will be a tempting deal even for U.S. companies that are barred from dealing with Iran.

Recent news reports indicate that the subsidiaries of several American companies have been quietly trading with Iran for years. These companies include Halliburton, GE and Conoco.

Iran shares its intelligence with America - they even arrested Taliban members and handed them over to US custody.

So we've got the Iranian spring; things are finally going to sort out.

And what happens? The Bush administration rebuffs every Iranian overture and does its best to instigate a cold war. Afghanistan is invaded, and suddenly, the Iranians are looking at American troops and allies on their eastern border. Then Iraq is invaded, and American troops and allies on their western border. Then bases and treaties in Uzbekistan, and whoops, there's more American troops and allies on the northern border. The Persian Gulf is filled with American warships and carrier fleets.

Now the Iranians are surrounded. And the tough talk is constant. Iran is part of the 'Axis of Evil' and Americans tell each other "Baghdad, humph, real men go to Tehran." Essentially, America has been threatening military action against Iran for the last five years, and has surrounded the country on every side with troops, bases and allies.

Legal and illegal immigrants have died in Bush's war

The war's first KIA was an illegal immigrant. How many republican chickenhawks are even in uniform for the war they demanded? NONE. They're all sissies and cowards.

Marine Lance Corporal Jose Gutierrez came here from Guatemala.

"Ex-Neocon" says people are being mean to him

After Watergate, people danced to disco and put Nixon's crimes behind them. Big mistake. We should have branded all Nixon's thugs with big swastikas on their foreheads because so many of them are now neocons. This fall, we must hound them out of office, round them up, shave their heads for the treasonous, Leninist criminals they are, and kill their fascist movement once and for all. We must treat them as post-war Germany has treated naziism and skinheadism for 60 years: NEVER AGAIN!

GOP=Watergate, stolen elections, corruption, warmongering, fascism. They don't change, they just get sneakier and better financed. We must put the GOP out of business forever.

Today's protest in D. C.: More people, more flags than at any "pro-Bush's war" rally in past three years

See the pictures. Good work, John.

Pat Robertson is Jesus: He heals the sick, raises the dead

Get some Roman soldiers, quick!

Well, why didn't he say so instead of buying race horses and gold mines?

Also says women are entitled to sex.

ROBERTSON: "I've-- I've had one woman-- African-American woman raised from the dead."

Healed a woman's asthma.

Nixon's "plumbers" couldn't stop Bush's leaks

2002 election-rigger/traitor called Bush 24 times

I'd tell him where to jam his phone.

In court, Bush would be called an accessory to the crime.

WASHINGTON - Key figures in a phone-jamming scheme designed to keep New Hampshire Democrats from voting in 2002 had regular contact with the White House and Republican Party as the plan was unfolding, phone records introduced in criminal court show.

The records show that Bush campaign operative James Tobin, who recently was convicted in the case, made two dozen calls to the White House within a three-day period around Election Day 2002 — as the phone jamming operation was finalized, carried out and then abruptly shut down.

The national Republican Party, which paid millions in legal bills to defend Tobin, says the contacts involved routine election business and that it was “preposterous” to suggest the calls involved phone jamming.

Dr. First helps Big Pharmas poison children

Physician, heal thyself!

Whatever happened to, "First, do no harm?" The man was a gifted cardiologist. Now he's the whore of murderers.

Top Republicans -- Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., and House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., -- recently sold the future of our children to Big Pharma for a paltry $4 bucks a pop.

That's the additional cost to produce a safe vaccine, a vaccine minus the mercury-based preservative thimerosal. Mercury is a deadly neurotoxin that has long been known to cause serious learning disabilities and death, and is strongly suspected in contributing to autism. According to the California Public Schools Autism Prevalence Report for the School Years 1992-2003, the increase in autism prevalence is systemic across the entire United States "and should be an urgent public-health concern ... The disease frequency of autism now surpasses that of all types of cancer combined." The report notes a 1,086 percent cumulative growth rate of autism over the period, with a 23 percent average annual growth rate.

Theofascist agenda: Destroy all other denominations

"They're bad because we say so, making us good...because we say so."

It's a new kind of jihad with its own kind of ethnic cleansing. They are Old Testament Christians, not disciples of Christ. The Bible is their Weapon of Mass Distruction aimed at actual christians. The Bible is the handwritten Word of God...except for the parts they don't like. Theofascists are the Fifth Column in the neocon plan to turn America into a feudal theocracy wherein a few old, white men own everything, and the rest of us are to be glad we're serfs, and not slaves...although slavery has never been far away from the table.

Cancervative "christians" are the stupidest people anywhere

They "believe in God," and hate science.

The Emmy-winning scientist (Bill Nye, "The Science Guy") angered a few audience members when he criticized literal interpretation of the biblical verse Genesis 1:16, which reads: “God made two great lights — the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.”

He pointed out that the sun, the “greater light,” is but one of countless stars and that the “lesser light” is the moon, which really is not a light at all, rather a reflector of light.

A number of audience members left the room at that point, visibly angered by what some perceived as irreverence.

“We believe in a God!” exclaimed one woman as she left the room with three young children.

I can only speculate that she left to go sell her daughter into slavery, as the Bible teaches parents to do.

Jerry Falwell approves of amhateradio talkinghead's wish to kill Mexicans one night a week. If he didn't, he'd have said so by now.

These are the people who get bent out of shape over half a nipple at the Super Bowl.

I have a better idea. Let's kill all the amhateradio talkingheads we can find one night a week. That would make America a better place in a few weeks.

"Christians" claim they have the right to bully people they don't like

If they want to bully someone, they can start with me, and see how they like the outcome.

These people are not christians. If they were, they'd "speak out" against republican criminals, fascists and warmongers instead of supporting them.

"Christians" Sue for Right Not to Tolerate Policies

Many codes intended to protect gays from harassment are illegal, conservatives argue.

ATLANTA — Ruth Malhotra went to court last month for the right to be intolerant.

Malhotra says her Christian faith compels her to speak out against homosexuality. But the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she's a senior, bans speech that puts down others because of their sexual orientation.

Why don't we deport illegal republicans?

Which would mean all of them. They start all the wars and commit all the big crimes.

Where are republican "family values" when we need them?

U.S. Military Secrets for Sale at Afghan Bazaar
By Paul Watson, Times Staff Writer
April 10, 2006

BAGRAM, Afghanistan — No more than 200 yards from the main gate of the sprawling U.S. base here, stolen computer drives containing classified military assessments of enemy targets, names of corrupt Afghan officials and descriptions of American defenses are on sale in the local bazaar.

Shop owners at the bazaar say Afghan cleaners, garbage collectors and other workers from the base arrive each day offering purloined goods, including knives, watches, refrigerators, packets of Viagra and flash memory drives taken from military laptops. The drives, smaller than a pack of chewing gum, are sold as used equipment.

3 U.S. commanders relieved of duty as Iraqi town mourns its dead

HADITHA, Iraq - In the middle of methodically recalling the day his brother's family was killed, Yaseen's monotone voice and stream of tears suddenly stopped. He looked up, paused and pleaded: "Please don't let me say anything that will get me killed by the Americans. My family can't handle any more."

The story of what happened to Yaseen and his brother Younes' family has redefined Haditha's relationship with the Marines who patrol it. On Nov. 19, a roadside bomb struck a Humvee on Haditha's main road, killing one Marine and injuring two others.

The Marines say they took heavy gunfire afterwards and thought it was coming from the area around Younes' house. They went to investigate, and 23 people were killed.

Retired Marine general hates America, sides with terists

"Why Iraq Was A Mistake"

EXCERPTS

From 2000 until October 2002, I was a Marine Corps lieutenant general and director of operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. After 9/11, I was a witness and therefore a party to the actions that led us to the invasion of Iraq--an unnecessary war. Inside the military family, I made no secret of my view that the zealots' rationale for war made no sense. And I think I was outspoken enough to make those senior to me uncomfortable. But I now regret that I did not more openly challenge those who were determined to invade a country whose actions were peripheral to the real threat--al-Qaeda. I retired from the military four months before the invasion, in part because of my opposition to those who had used 9/11's tragedy to hijack our security policy. Until now, I have resisted speaking out in public. I've been silent long enough.

I am driven to action now by the missteps and misjudgments of the White House and the Pentagon, and by my many painful visits to our military hospitals. In those places, I have been both inspired and shaken by the broken bodies but unbroken spirits of soldiers, Marines and corpsmen returning from this war. The cost of flawed leadership continues to be paid in blood. The willingness of our forces to shoulder such a load should make it a sacred obligation for civilian and military leaders to get our defense policy right. They must be absolutely sure that the commitment is for a cause as honorable as the sacrifice.

Twilight of the Demigods: Pat Robertson's moon is on the wane, thank God

Race horses, mansions, gold from Liberia...all for naught. Crazy Pat's $2 million in debt.

Our founding fathers never imagined the Bush junta

The neocons are a brand-new kind of criminal.

Biggest reason to pay close attention to theofascist behavior

They mean to turn America into a feudal theocracy. Accept that fact, and you'll know what to do.

Right-wing church movements have been a staple of American politics since well before the 1692 witch trials at Salem. But only in the past few decades has the extremist church served as the grassroots base for a new breed of corporate totalitarianism. That unholy union has been nowhere more powerful than here in Ohio, and it has finally provoked a response from the state’s mainstream churches.

With huge torrents of cash from Richard Mellon Scaife, the Ahmanson family and other super-rich ultra-rightists, the fundamentalist church has formed the popular network that has spawned the Bush catastrophe. The totalitarian alliance between pulpit, corporation and military is unique in U.S. history.

With contempt for the Constitution, and unholy opposition to separation of church and state, ultra-rich ultra-right preachers like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, self-proclaimed messiahs like Rev. Moon, and sanctimonious errand boys like Ralph Reed and Grover Norquist, have turned America into a “Christo-fascist” empire whose twice-unelected executive claims Divine right to rule. When it comes to their views on violence, empire, greed and intolerance, these are the most un-Christian men in America. It’s no accident that George W. Bush’s first words about the war to follow 9/11 had to do with a “Christian Crusade” against Islam. And, instead of consulting his father, a former President, W. chose to consult “a higher father.”

That this evil network of mega- churches, cults and electronic Elmer Gantrys would prove profoundly corrupt should also come as no surprise. These are the moneychangers that Christ kicked out of the temple. The ultra-orthodox cash flow from Jack Abramoff to “godly” legislators like Tom DeLay and Ohio’s Bob Ney has suffered not the slightest diversion toward true spirituality. The movement even has its own sex symbol in Ann Coulter, the “Harlot of Hate” who reaps huge sums in places like Ohio’s World Harvest Church for talking nasty while dressed in mini-skirts that would get minors arrested off urban street corners.
