What you need for the coming Civil War II
Something for everyone in your family. Leave questions in Comments, and I will try to answer them.AR-15 series.
Many variants, accessories available. The best choice is an AR-15-A1 with a 1:12 twist barrel. Using 55-grain ammunition, it'll stop anyone, and I mean anyone. Newer 1:9 or 1:7 barrels with 55-grain ammunition are almost as good. Ignore stories from Somalia and Iraq that say it's too weak. Soldiers are issued 62-grain armor-piercing ammunition meant to defeat Soviet body armor, which it does/did. Yes, 62-grain is a poor choice for "soft targets" because it goes right through. From a 1:12 twist barrel, 55-grain ammunition will tumble and stop anybody. Light, mild recoil. Magazines available from 10-rds to 40-rounds.M-1 carbine.
Excellent for medium-sized hands and up. Served our country well in three wars. Israelis still use it. Don't listen to know-nothings who dismiss it as a "rabbit gun." At 200 yards, it'll take down a deer. 5.5 pounds, mild recoil. Plainfield, IAI are as good as GI. Don't get a Universal or Iver-Johnson.Ruger 10/22.
Excellent .22 semi-auto carbine for small hands. Comes with 10-rd magazine, but 25-rd, 30-rd and 50-rd mags are available. Use Long Rifle High-Velocity Hollowpoint ammo.Browning Hi-Power MkIII.
Finest handgun in the world. Medium-sized hands and up will welcome this beauty. Get it in 9mm. Buy 115-grain ammo. Comes with factory 13-round magazines, but 15-rd, 17-rd and 21-rd magazines are available for @$20.Beretta Cheetah series.
Small hands can handle this excellent sidearm. Available in .32 ACP or .380.For those on a tight budget.Yugoslavian SKS.
Inexpensive, excellent carbine for medium-sized hands, and up. In 7.62X39mm, aka "short Russian." Uses 10-round stripper clips, meaning you don't need magazines. Fairly light, moderate recoil, accurate. A fine option for anyone.Makarov.
Available from Russia, Bulgaria, East Germany. Inexpensive, perfectly acceptable self-defense handgun. Reliable, accurate as anything in its class. Extra 8-rd mags available cheap. Get many. In 9X18mm (more powerful than .380, less than 9mm Parabellum. Get Hollowpoints.)

Resent Bush's appointing hisself king without letting them in on the payola.
From Publishers Weekly
Wrongly accused of treason, imprisoned and later discharged, Muslim U.S. Army Chaplain James Yee served at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba-a detention center for War on Terror detainees-for most of 2003 before his Catch-22esque descent into a military inquiry fueled by suspicion of his faith, not evidence of his alleged wrongdoing. A graduate of West Point, Yee later converted to Islam and, upon his assignment to Guantanamo (Gitmo, to the locals), he became the base's third Muslim chaplain in six months, a contentious role that saw him educating soldiers that "Muslim" and "terrorist" were not synonymous, leading prayer services and ministering to detainees. He struck up friendships with the small group of Muslims working on the base, and, unbeknownst to him at the time, his group of friends had been dubbed "Hamas" by other Gitmo soldiers, an anecdote indicative of the accusations of treason that would soon hound him. Sincere almost to the point of naïveté, Yee realizes the distorted view many Westerners have of Muslims, but is constantly surprised he would become a target. A searing indictment of justice gone awry and unchecked, systemic ignorance, Yee's story is sure to stimulate its share of discussion on a volatile subject at a crucial time. Photos.

Come November, we won't forget, either.
Pols given survey with one question: "Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?"

Remember when they said, "If Gore had won, we'd all be speaking Arabic by now."
Well, Gore did win, and now we all need to start learning Arabic.
Another battle in the right's war on education, and knowledge itself.Teacher suspended for being right about Bush. Students walk out in protest of suspension. Snivvling little sissy who framed teacher afraid to come to school, as he should be.
The high school geography teacher placed on paid leave for comments he made during a class lecture about President Bush plans to file a lawsuit Friday to get back to work. Jay Bennish's comments were recorded by a student who said he tapes lectures to help with notes.
Never doubt it for a moment. It's been in the works for at least 25 years. Now they're taking over the airwaves.
Casual observers of cable television news programming might be forgiven for assuming that Christianity is a religion characterized by a toxic combination of ignorant belligerence and whiny self-pity. Turn on Joe Scarborough's MSNBC show, and you are likely to be greeted by a lunatic named William Donohue, president of something called the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, who complains that "Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular," and that "Hollywood likes anal sex." During the 2004 election campaign, he could be heard lamenting that John Kerry "never found an abortion he couldn't justify" and attacking the publishing industry for its cover-up of the "gay death style." In a more recent Scarborough appearance, Donohue returned to his favorite topic, explaining to viewers that many in "Hollywood"--which, remember, is controlled by you-know-who--love money so much they would happily "sodomize their own mother" onscreen.

Concerned about a political climate he calls “hysterical,” and worried about a little-known provision in a House-passed bill that would make criminals out of churches that assist illegal immigrants, Cardinal Roger Mahony of Los Angeles has a clear message for lawmakers who would try to bully him or his priests into not providing assistance to the needy: Bring it on.
Bush arrived amid extraordinary security for an overnight stay, following an unannounced visit to Afghanistan and three days in India, Pakistan’s neighbor and rival. Air Force One landed after dark, its lights off and window shades drawn to conceal the distinctive aircraft.
QUESTION: Can you name the general who is in charge of Pakistan?
BUSH: Wait, wait, is this 50 questions?
QUESTION: No, it’s four questions of four leaders in four hot spots.
BUSH: The new Pakistani general, he’s just been elected–not elected, this guy just took over office. It appears this guy is going to bring stability to the country, and I think that’s good news for the Subcontinent.
QUESTION: Can you name him?
BUSH: General. I can’t name the general. General.
Or at least was less to blame than we thought.Says he warned Bush NOLA levees could breech.

State legislature says US Constitution no longer applies there.
Okay, now they can form their own Pentagon, fund their own interstate highways, and negotiate their own foreign trade agreements.Missouri legislators in Jefferson City considered a bill that would name Christianity the state's official "majority" religion.
House Concurrent Resolution 13 has is pending in the state legislature.
The resolution would recognize "a Christian god," and it would not protect minority religions, but "protect the majority's right to express their religious beliefs.
The resolution also recognizes that, "a greater power exists," and only Christianity receives what the resolution calls, "justified recognition." Here we go again, just what I've been warning you about for 25 years.

I don't always find the invisibility comforting.
Almost any column in any progressive magazine analyzing the reactionary politics of the far right these days will at some point get around to taking a hard look at the Christian right that has given so much energy and supplied so many foot soldiers to that movement. Fair enough! It's a disturbing connection that should be teased apart. But then, it seems, the lefty columnist sometimes can't resist the temptation to lump all Christians together, as if everyone who believed in God and tried to follow Jesus cared only about preventing gay marriage and making abortion illegal.
As a Christian -- and a leftist -- myself, I can take the occasional lampooning, but it makes me wonder whether you on the secular left, especially the intelligentsia, realize I'm here, realize how many of the foot soldiers of the Left are Christians (or other religious people) whose activism springs from deeply held faith. The first recorded words of the young man I do my best to follow are that he was sent to "proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free." It's not just a liberal agenda, but a radical one.
Including my great-niece. Fortunately, public outcry--not an admission of wrongdoing on their part--has resulted in change.
A new study shows that autism may be linked after all to the use of mercury in childhood vaccines, despite government's previous claims to the contrary.
An article in the March 10, 2006 issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons (JPandS.org) shows that since mercury was removed from childhood vaccines, the alarming increase in reported rates of autism and other neurological disorders (NDs) in children not only stopped, but actually dropped sharply -- by as much as 35 percent.

Local police are watching the home of an Indiana solider killed in Iraq after the home was vandalized and his family received disturbing phone calls.
Sgt. Rickey Jones died in a roadside bomb blast last week north of Baghdad. He was 21.
On Saturday, someone threw eggs at his family's home. The family also got phone calls from someone who said they were glad that Jones was dead.
Jones' relatives and police are also bracing for the possibility that a Kansas-based group that has created furor at other soldiers' funerals will stage a protest Monday at his funeral.
The protesters may face new restrictions at Jones' funeral if Gov. Daniels signs a bill this week that would make disorderly conduct at a funeral a felony and keep protesters at least 500 feet from a gravesite.
-- In 2002 the PTC paid $3.5 million in fines when it settled a libel lawsuit filed by the World Wrestling Entertainment, after admitting that it exaggerated the number of companies that pulled ads from the WWE's program. As part of the settlement, the PTC apologized for misrepresenting the relationship between advertisers and the WWE and misrepresenting their claim that the sponsors had stopped advertising because of the PTC campaign.

More proof Bush himself is a disaster of biblical proportions.
"Those people" in NOLA should have been born affluent white people.
So naturally Bush went on vacation, and then lied about the meeting. Now that this unelected chimp has turned out the be a disaster of biblical proportions, how can anyone who voted for him sleep at night?
It's their fault for being black and poor. Republicans wouldn't have expected their president to do anything, why did NOLA residents?
And more lies from Cheney to canned audience at American Legion.
And only Democrats even know about it.
WHEN IMITATION JOURNALISTS ATTACK!
The White House spokeschannel now says the librulmedia have just made up the non-civil war civil war in Iraq, including the 1500+ people who've died in it.
Thanks them for helping him get his cool, new job-for-life. Says he'll "keep them in mind" as he dismantles the Constitution for them.
Hey, give the poor, little guy a break. Just because they told him a monster hurricane was about to destroy an entire city, that doesn't mean he could know anyone would be, you know, suffering from it.
85% still believe they're there to punish Saddam for 9-11.
77% still believe they're there to keep Saddam from helping al-qaeda.
Reckon where they got such silly notions? Bush claims he never said those things.
And they hired a former spook to teach them how. Really.
Still believe Bush's and FAUXNEWZ's lies that Saddam was behind 9-11. Bush claims he never said that. Okay, why did and do so many people who get their opinions from the vast, right-wing conspiracy believe it? If Bush didn't say it, who did? And if Bush didn't say it, why were we called French-looking, cheese-eating surrender monkey moonbats for opposing the war?
Remember when republicans wanted us to believe they were for a free market, and said competition was good for everybody? You didn't believe them, did you? Never believe anything a republican says. They're all liars and criminals who want to turn our country into a feudal theocracy.
Once upon a time, the FCC's job was to ensure a wide variety of programming and points of view. Now, it's just the opposite.
In Moses' day, locusts were enough. But Jebya has sinned so badly, so many times, that bees are needed now.
What will the Falwellians say when they find out?
Why does somebody always have to "clarify" Bush's lies?
Feingold reads entire Constitution aloud, unPatriot Act passes, anyway.
So many brave, young republican warmongers are enlisting to fight their king's war, we're down to unmanned Strykers for convoy duty. It can avoid a gate, but can it detect and disarm IEDs or shoot terists? Probably not, but at least the robot geeks will get a big box of our money for playing with this beast.
According to this poll, GIs finally admit Bush lied them into war, but we're unpatriotic for saying it out loud. Huh?
Well, he was on vacation, taking guitar lessons.
Good thing Bush is a uniter-not-a-divider
I have GOT to get me one of these!

We remember how republicans and neocons chose to piss on the entire planet in their crusade for world conquest. They're trying to worm their way out of any responsibility. Don't let them.
As much as anything else, reorganizing everything under DeptHomeSec was a move to eliminate unions and their wage and benefit protections.
Bush really means to take us back to pre-Depression days. The people who tried to replace FDR with a Mussolini-style fascist dictator have been working for decades to erase everything FDR did. They finally have their dictator, and are getting closer by the day to the fascist nation they've dreamed about for 70 years.
Welcome to the club. We're pretty sick of him, too.

Has this country ever spawned a sorrier bunch of worthless slackers?
Why do 66% of Americans hate America?
The American public has a dismal assessment of Bush’s policies across the board:
– 30 percent approve of Bush’s handling of the war in Iraq — an all-time low.
– 27 percent approve of Bush’s energy policy.
– 32 percent approve of Bush’s handling of the economy.
– 5 percent of Americans are pleased with the way the rebuilding of the Gulf Coast is going.
Today, White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan said, “Our focus is on the important priorities of the American people.” Looks like the American people disagree.
Bush cares a lot more about helping his friends make money than he does about national security.
Me, too, George. I've been called worse by better people.
I've been trying to tell you for 30 years, but you wouldn't listen. They mean to eliminate public education in their feudal theocracy. Any vote for any republican this year and in the forseeable future is a vote for theofascist rule.
This is not outreach. It is meant to be a complete socio-political terraforming of America.
"Ask God to give us America's children," Gamble said. "When Jesus owns the schools, He will own the culture and the hearts of the children!"
Remember when Bush said, "F*@k Saddam. We're taking him out." It's like the dog that chased the truck. Now that he's got the place, what's he gonna do with it?
We never should have been there. The neocons can pay for their next war. They've made plenty off this one.

Iraq's death squads: On the brink of civil war
Most of the corpses in Baghdad's mortuary show signs of torture and execution. And the Interior Ministry is being blamed.
Hundreds of Iraqis are being tortured to death or summarily executed every month in Baghdad alone by death squads working from the Ministry of the Interior, the United Nations' outgoing human rights chief in Iraq has revealed.
John Pace, who left Baghdad two weeks ago, told The Independent on Sunday that up to three-quarters of the corpses stacked in the city's mortuary show evidence of gunshot wounds to the head or injuries caused by drill-bits or burning cigarettes. Much of the killing, he said, was carried out by Shia Muslim groups under the control of the Ministry of the Interior.
Why do they hate America?
Don't they understand that since young republican chickenhawks won't serve their country, those who will must sacrifice in their place? Plus, since the Guard is meant to protect states
, if they're in Iraq they can't oppose the Regular Army when Bush declares himself fuehrer-for-life.
"He...shot his eye out?"

Southern Baptist Convention wants to reign in 120-year-old Women's Missionary Union.
This assumes one knows and follows the Constitution instead of considering it just a #%^&@$ piece of paper.
One of the most common statements from the "Religious Right" is that they want this country to "return to the Christian principles on which it was founded". However, one only needs to do a little research into American history to discover that this statement is a lie. The men responsible for building the foundation of the United States had little use for Christianity, and many were strongly opposed to it. They were men of The Enlightenment, not Men of Christianity. They were Deists.
When the Founders wrote the nation's Constitution, they specified that "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." (Article 6, section 3) This provision was radical in its day-- giving equal citizenship to believers and non-believers alike. They wanted to ensure that no single religion could make the claim of being the official, national religion, such as England had.
Nowhere in the Constitution does it mention religion, except in exclusionary terms. The words Jesus Christ, Christianity, Bible, and God are never mentioned in the Constitution.
