Ho-hum, King Goerge caught in yet another lie

And he's right...what can we do about it? His friends control Congress, the worthlesscorporatemedia and electronic voting now. Decent Americans who DON'T want our country turned into feudal Europe are just screwed.

What if another country announced, "King Goerge is a threat to world peace with his WMDs and must disarm, or we'll do it for him?" I doubt anyone could pull it off, but at least they'd be right.

Imagine if the rest of the world decided to embargo America on all fronts until King Goerge resigned. How do we make this happen?

Imagine if millions of Americans demanded that Congress impeach and convict King Goerge, and have him put in a pillory? How do we make this happen?

U.S. Misled Allies About Nuclear Export
N. Korean Material Landed In Pakistan, Instead of Libya

In an effort to increase pressure on North Korea, the Bush administration told its Asian allies in briefings earlier this year that Pyongyang had exported nuclear material to Libya. That was a significant new charge, the first allegation that North Korea was helping to create a new nuclear weapons state.

But that is not what U.S. intelligence reported, according to two officials with detailed knowledge of the transaction. North Korea, according to the intelligence, had supplied uranium hexafluoride -- which can be enriched to weapons-grade uranium -- to Pakistan. It was Pakistan, a key U.S. ally with its own nuclear arsenal, that sold the material to Libya. The U.S. government had no evidence, the officials said, that North Korea knew of the second transaction.

King Goerge and small-gubmnt rethuglicons rush "emergency" bill through so Big Brother can intrude even more into people's lives

WASHINGTON (March 19) - As a deal in Congress was worked out to have federal courts decide Terri Schiavo's fate, emotions swelled outside the brain-damaged woman's hospice room Saturday, with protesters arrested after they symbolically tried to smuggle in bread and water on her second day without a feeding tube.

President Bush changed his schedule to return to Washington from his Texas ranch on Sunday to be on hand to sign the legislation. (More)

Breeding terists in Iraq makes us safe...huh?

On the Tar Baby's second birthday, King Goerge dishonors every soldier and veteran in our history as he unveils his newest lies about reasons for Gulf War II.

When is someone going to tell King Goerge to just shut the hell up? Notice how this newest lie and &*(($#!+ about Gulf War II no longer includes WMDs, but does stay consistent with the original lie that Saddam was a threat. Threat? With what? To whom, Halliburton? The Carlyle Group? PNAC?

We continue to see that whatever he or any of his demons says is exactly the opposite of what's true.

Why does America continue to put up with this unelected, lying, illiterate, dry drunk, lying, delusional, corrupt, lying, fascist warmonger? When will the people rise up and demand his impeachment, conviction, and public confinement to a pillory in front of the White House for 20 years where true Americans can go and spit on the lying, fascist criminal as many times as they want to?

Who signed a law allowing hospitals to kill poor people?

(Hint: He did it while governor of Texas. Surely Dr. First and Hammerman DeLay don't know about this, or they'd be all over the indecent immorality of it.)

"A PATENT'S INABILITY TO PAY FOR MEDICAL CARE combined* with a prognosis that renders further care futile are two reasons a hospital might suggest cutting off life support, the chief medical officer at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital said Monday." (More)

(*Clearly implying that a vegetable with insurance can be kept alive and billed indefinitely.)

Mandate THIS!

The twice unelected White House squatter, whose approval ratings are down on almost every issue, has yet to sell the country on his &*(($#!+ scam for Social Security.

Only one-third of all Americans (33 percent) approve of his proposal to create investment accounts under Social Security, the poll found, while 59 percent disapprove. More Americans (44 percent) trust Congressional Democrats with managing the 70-year-old program. The poll also found that, with the exception of his handling of terrorism and homeland security*, his approval numbers are down across the board. (More)

*Now do you understand the importance of getting across to your friends that HE ISN'T HANDLING TERISM AND HOMELAND SECURITY?!?! There has to be terism before he can "handle" it, and THERE IS NO TERISM except from the religious wrong. And from them and the neocon pirates, THE HOMELAND IS ANYTHING BUT SAFE!

Catholic Nun Begins Sentence for School of Americas Protest
Nun protested military school where Latin American soldiers are trained; some soldiers accused of human rights violations.

Before going behind bars Tuesday (March 15), Sister Lelia "Lil" Mattingly said she expected jail would be cold and dreary compared to life in a convent. But the nun sentenced in connection with a protest in Georgia said her imprisonment follows Jesus' way, "to speak the truth to power and pay the consequences."

Mattingly, 63, reported Tuesday to the Danbury Federal Correctional Institution, a low-security prison in Danbury, Conn., that is home to 1,300 female inmates. She will serve a six-month sentence for trespassing on a U.S. Army base. (More)

Baby dies after hospital removes breathing tube
Case is the first in which a judge allowed a hospital to discontinue care

The baby wore a cute blue outfit with a teddy bear covering his bottom. The 17-pound, nearly 6-month-old boy wiggled with eyes open, his mother said, and smacked his lips.

"I talked to him, I told him that I loved him. Inside of me, my son is still alive." (Wanda Hudson, mother of Sun Hudson)

Then at 2 p.m. Tuesday, a medical staffer at Texas Children's Hospital gently removed the breathing tube that had kept Sun Hudson alive since his birth Sept. 25. Cradled by his mother, he took a few breaths, and died. (More)

"Statement on the second anniversary of the invasion of Iraq."
Iraq Veterans Against the War
March 19, 2005

Today marks the second anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Iraq, a key milestone in the current U.S. Government’s campaign of lies and deceit common since 9/11. We were first told that there was a link between Iraq and the horrible 9/11 attacks. But there was none. Then we were told that Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction; yet only a few old warheads and some dormant bacterial cultures have been found despite rigorous searching. Then finally, we were told that Saddam Hussein was training terrorists to attack the United States, but no terrorist presence seems to have existed in Iraq prior to the massive build-up in early 2003. Post-invasion Iraq, however, has clearly become a hotbed for new terrorist threats.

We, the veterans of the war, now know all of these reasons for invading the sovereign country of Iraq were false, and we have paid a heavy price for these lies. (Click headline for entire message)

The anti-war movement, which now represents the sentiment of the majority of the American people, is poised to mark this second anniversary of Gulf War II by launching a new peace offensive. Here are several ways you can help. (More)

"Our troops will come home when Iraq is capable of defending herself," Bush told reporters Wednesday.

DEFENDING HERSELF? FROM WHOM, YOU? Nobody else attacked Iraq until you did, you lying, fascist warmonger!

What Will Endure Once Iraq War Is History?

(We will remember that a lot of people died because King Goerge lied.)

True Legacy May Not Be Evident for Years or Decades

(Nope. We all know now that King Goerge is a lying, fascist warmonger who planned to invade Iraq well before he started lying about WMDs and 9/11; before 9/11 even happened, remember.)

How is this the business of Congress, the state of Florida, Jerry Falwell or anyone besides her husband?

From Americablog:

The Sanctity of Marriage, Indeed

Isn't it interesting how quickly the far-right's campaign to control gay marriage has turned into a campaign BY THE SAME PEOPLE to control YOUR marriage?

From bioethicist Art Caplan, PhD:

Remember the recent debate about gay marriage and the sanctity of the bond between husband and wife? Nearly all of those now trying to push their views forward about what should be done with Terri Schiavo told us that marriage is a sacred trust between a man and a woman. Well, if that is what marriage means then it is very clear who should be making the medical decisions for Terri — her husband.

From Martin Niemoeller, Berlin Lutheran pastor arrested by the Gestapo and sent to Dachau concentration camp in 1938; the Allied forces freed him seven years later:

"In Germany, the Nazis first came for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, but I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me."

So I ask you again, dear reader...are you getting ready? They are. And don't think it can't happen here. Decent Germans thought it couldn't happen there, either. Or in every other country in Europe. It's already happening here. You'll realize it daily if you pay attention.

We have the advantage of knowing history. Remember the history of people like King Goerge, the neocons (read about PNAC soon), and the religious wrong. Remember their own words. Do not go to sleep. Get ready, or you'll wish you had.

Two more pairs of boots for the Tar Baby's birthday party

The antiwar coalition (FPJ)reports that there are currently 583 antiwar events planned in cities and towns across the United States--nearly double the number of antiwar actions on the first anniversary of the invasion, a good reflection of the deepening doubts about the war after a disastrous year of continued body counts and billions of dollars wasted on an illegal and immoral occupation. Bullies=good, fags and dykes=bad, very bad

I'm not gay, and I am a christian. If I hate anyone, it's bullies. All bullies. Okay, I don't hate anyone, but bullies push all my buttons at the same time. How can anyone call himself a christian and tolerate bullies?

Apparently, "Do unto others" doesn't exist in the parallel universe of Cancervatron. I can only assume that since Cancervatroids don't believe in science, the Van Allen belts don't protect them from solar radiation, and they all have severe brain cancer.

Do you know what I mean when I ask if you're getting ready? And, knowing that, are you getting ready? I, for one, will not tolerate their turning my country into Neuropa. (See archives.) I hope I don't have to stand up alone when the time comes. But if I have to, I will.

If King Goerge doesn't have to publicly fess up to cocaine use...

Why should Big Mac admit to steroid use?

"I'm not here to discuss the past. I'm here to be positive about this subject." (MARK MCGWIRE, after being asked in a Congressional hearing whether he had used steroids.)

I can imagine every hearing and trial for the next decade:

PROSECUTOR "Did you or did you not murder your wife?"

OJ/BLAKE/PETERSON "I'm not going to talk about what may or may not have happened yesterday. 'Hakuna matatta,' and all that. It's in the past, so get past it. But I will defend the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman, and promote amending the Constitution so fags and dykes can't make straight couples get divorced in favor of the homosexual agenda to destroy families and eat babies."

DEFENSE COUNCIL "Your Honor, I move for acquittal on the grounds of lack of evidence."

NON-ACTIVIST JUDGE "Granted. Case dismissed."

And once again, Neuropa has enforced the rule of law and order for rich people everywhere. Now, we need to find another non-activist judge who'll free that decent/moral/honest ex-governor of Connecticut who merely took money to help christian binnissmen* spread christian capitalism**.

(All rethuglicons are by definition "christian" now, ergo, so are all *binnissmen, and especially **capitalism its very self. It's what Jesus taught. I can prove that by showing how recruiting disciples was His example for network marketing. He spread the Gospel to show us how to recruit for AmWay and all its descendants. So as you've just seen, Jesus was a capitalist and, therefore, a rethuglicon.)

Next week's lesson: How our non-christian founding fathers really meant for America to be not just a "christian nation," but a CANCERVATIVE christian nation.

Aren't we glad the rethuglicons want a small gubmnt that will stay out of our private business?

Feeding-Tube Case Roils Washington and Florida

Take this crook, John Rowland, former governor of Connecticut. He thinks he deserves leniency for selling access to the governor's office. Leniency? He broke laws and, worse, betrayed his oath of office and the public trust. He deserves 20 years in a pillory on the lawn of the state capitol building so citizens can spit on him all day long.

King Goerge had secret plan for Iraq's oil BEFORE 9/11

Anyone else remember when he said inside the White House, "%@#& Saddam, we're taking him out?"

Secret US plans for Iraq's oil

The Bush administration made plans for war and for Iraq's oil before the 9/11 attacks, sparking a policy battle between neo-cons and Big Oil, BBC's Newsnight has revealed.

(click to view segments of Iraq oil plans)

Two years ago today - when President George Bush announced US, British and Allied forces would begin to bomb Baghdad - protesters claimed the US had a secret plan for Iraq's oil once Saddam had been conquered.

In fact there were two conflicting plans, setting off a hidden policy war between neo-conservatives at the Pentagon, on one side, versus a combination of "Big Oil" executives and US State Department "pragmatists".

"Big Oil" appears to have won. The latest plan, obtained by Newsnight from the US State Department was, we learned, drafted with the help of American oil industry consultants.

Insiders told Newsnight that planning began "within weeks" of Bush's first taking office in 2001, long before the September 11th attack on the US. (More)

Invitation to the Tar Baby's birthday party

Check listings for some fun near you.

"Think Peace" rally is in Nashville Saturday, at noon, in front of Centennial Park. Bring a credit card so you can post bail.

It's been 35 years since Kent State. Can the cops read the Constitution yet? You remember, the part about "peaceable assembly," and all that other anti-American commie stuff?

I started protesting wars over 35 years ago, and I've learned three things we must remember Saturday and from now on.

1. Cops are not our enemy. Smile, be nice, say, "Yes, sir," and do whatever they say. Don't resist, don't talk back, don't argue. If you do, it'll be on teevee, we'll all be the bad guys and it'll change the debate. Violence was why it took so long to get the message out about LBJ, Nixon (ptooey!) and Vietnam. So, no violence.

2. Soldiers are not the bad guys in this war. Soldiers didn't start this war. Soldiers never start wars. I was a soldier during a war once, and I didn't do it. Neither did any other soldier. So, don't protest soldiers.

2. King Goerge is the lying warmonger. He and his entire administration are the bad guys. They stole a whole country with lies, a pile of our money and 1518 empty pairs of boots (so far). So, protest the living hell out of King Goerge.

To sum up:

1. Cops=good.
2. Soldiers=good.
3. King Goerge=BAD, VERY, VERY BAD.

The whole world is watching! The whole world is watching!

“We were completely peaceful. It was the (police) officers who were violent.”

Thirty-five years since Kent State, and cops still can't read the Constitution.

"On Wednesday, March 9, I (Hadas Thier) and two other students from the City College of New York (CCNY), Justino Rodriguez and Nicholas Bergreen, were brutalized and arrested by campus security guards for peacefully protesting the presence of military recruiters at CCNY’s “career fair.” We were charged with misdemeanor counts of assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, and disturbing the peace, among other things. Hospital records from Mt. Sinai confirm that Bergreen and Rodriguez suffered multiple contusions and post-concussion syndrome. Our court date is set for April 5." (More)

Now I understand why they got all bent out of shape over the Da Vinci Code

We know Leo was gay. I guess that can only mean his painting has a hidden gay agenda. Let's see: A bunch of unemployed, sandal-wearing, long-haired, hippie-type, single men, living and travelling together, accepting handouts, talking about peace, love and brotherhood and all that anti-American stuff. Yep, definitely a gay agenda.

Now, about that woman sitting to Jesus' right...

I take it all back

Move over Tinky Winky and SpongeBob SquarePants.

When Marshall Field's employed a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs theme for its 2004 holiday festivities, the Chicago-born retailer received some complaints that it was promoting the homosexual lifestyle, an executive said recently.

The concerned citizens divined that there was a "hidden gay agenda" in Field's theme "because seven men were living together," Gregory Clark, vice president of creative services for Field's in Minneapolis, recounted last month at a Retail Advertising & Marketing Association conference in Chicago. Framing The GOP

by Parker Blackman

A PR expert says liberals must drop the niceties and start calling Republicans what they are: extreme and reckless.

Why this is a terrible idea

Initially, it'll piss off everybody in uniform. Then it'll become a great fundraising topic for the Grotesque Obstreperous Party. And from the vr-wc, we'll never hear the end of how we hate the military.

Haven't we learned anything since the '60s? Don't protest the military. Protest the war and those who love it.

Group to stage anti-war march

Anti-war groups are putting the finishing touches on plans to take to city streets on Saturday, the second anniversary of the Iraq war's launch.

The War Resistors League plans to rally, march and block the entrances to three military recruitment centers across the city on that day to protest the war in Iraq, as well as in Afghanistan.

"We're focusing on recruiting stations for the empty promises they make to young people," Frida Berrigan, a member of the group, said yesterday at a news conference.

Protesters plan to target recruiting centers in Times Square, 41 Flatbush Ave. in Brooklyn and at Fordham Road and the Grand Concourse in the Bronx. (More)

"They also said that Roy Barnes had lost because of a surge of "angry white men" punishing him for eradicating all but a vestige of the old confederate symbol from the state flag."

(I interrupt for a question: Does this mean Barnes should have been punished for doing the right thing? Back to our regularly scheduled programing.)

"When the Georgia secretary of state's office published its demographic breakdown of the election earlier this year, it turned out there was no surge of angry white men; in fact, the only subgroup showing even a modest increase in turnout was black women."
"Now, weird things like this do occasionally occur in elections, and the figures, on their own, are not proof of anything except statistical anomalies worthy of further study. But in Georgia there was an extra reason to be suspicious. Last November, the state became the first in the country to conduct an election entirely with touchscreen voting machines, after lavishing $54m (£33m) on a new system that promised to deliver the securest, most up-to-date, most voter-friendly election in the history of the republic. The machines, however, turned out to be anything but reliable." (Much more)

In the parallel universe of Cancervatron where 2+2=5, "securest election" means "easiest for rethuglicons to rig*." Compare to "Clear Skies Initiative" which increased pollution, and "No Rich White Child Left Behind" which has severely damaged public education across America.

A christian president for christian patriots

No, not King Goerge. Jimmy Carter.

President (elected), businessman (made money), veteran (earned commission in Navy at Annapolis, completed tour of duty), never arrested, christian (Southern Baptist, Sunday School teacher), reads books (even writes them), built homes for poor, ensured fair (!!!) elections in emerging countries, established clean water systems around world.

No wonder the religious wrong hate this man.

RELIGIOUS WRONG: "If Carter was really a christian, why didn't he lie all the time, hang out with criminals and conquer the world like King Goerge? Now THERE's a christian president."

WASTED, FACT-BASED ANSWER: "Carter did hang out with criminals (republicans). So did Jesus. But to change them, not to make them even richer than they already were. As for lying, Jesus said not to. As for conquering the world, Jesus didn't care about the world, else HE would have conquered it."

Ever wonder why Jesus didn't talk about fiberty or queers, but did say to love your neighbor?

Again, they should lose their tax-exempt status for this

And so should those people in the post below. The tax laws are clear: When a church crosses the line, it ceases to be non-partisan and loses its tax status.

Will you believe that you and I are the only ones who can do anything about this? Will you believe it's up to us to create a hue and cry in the media and in Congress? Will you believe you must actually send these stories out and demand action?

Oh, reclaim this!

Contrary to Cancervatroid revisionist history, America was never a fascist, theocratic police state. They're thinking of feudal Europe. You know, the oppressive place the Pilgrims came here to get away from 400 years ago?

Question to fascist abomination liars in the religious wrong: What's with your obsession over the Ten Commandments? They're from the Old Testament. How's about a little equal air time for the Beatitudes. You know, Jesus' Sermon on the Mount? From the New Testament?

Open letter to all delusional robots in the religious wrong: If you insist on being crazy, ignorant and just wrong about everything, fine. Go do it in private, and leave the rest of us the hell alone.

For evangelicals, a bid to 'reclaim America'

For the faithful who gathered in Florida last month, the goal is not just to convert individuals - but to reshape US society ("reshape" it into something it never was, and never was meant to be. Again, they're confusing America with feudal Europe. But then, they're confused about everything else, too, so...)

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. – For the Reback daughters, the big attraction was the famous Ten Commandments monument, brought to Florida on tour after being removed from the Alabama judicial building as unconstitutional. The youngsters - dressed in red, white, and blue - clustered proudly around the display.
For more than 900 other Christians from across the US, the draw at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church last month was a national conference aimed at "reclaiming America for Christ." The monument stood as a potent symbol of their hopes for changing the course of the nation. (More, if you can stomach it.)

Yeah? What are you gonna do about it?

It's just a coinkydink that Tom Ridge is from this itty bitty town in PA. Politics and graft have NOTHING to do with it, just like when he told everybody to buy plastic and duct tape...that had NOTHING to do with his going to work for Home(land Security) Depot a couple of weeks ago. (See archives)

Tiny School Gets No-Bid Work From Homeland Security
Agency deems Mercyhurst College the sole source to provide training for intelligence analysts

WASHINGTON, March 16, 2005 — A tiny college located in the hometown of ex-Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge is negotiating a no-bid contract to train intelligence analysts for the sprawling agency. In doing so, the agency is short-circuiting a selection process that would normally include a host of bigger and better known institutions already working in that field such as George Washington University and Georgetown University.

Late last month, the Department of Homeland Security filed notice it was entering into negotiations on a sole source basis with Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa., to develop and run an intelligence analyst certificate program for the department. Mercyhurst is a liberal arts, private, Catholic school located on the eastern shore of Lake Erie. The school has an enrollment of about 3,100.

(A new academic building scheduled to open this fall on a satellite campus of the college will be named the Tom and Michele Ridge Health and Safety Building. School officials say the decision to name the building in honor of the Ridges was made several years ago when the Erie native, who was then governor of Pennsylvania, helped secure $2 million in financing for the project. )

Another of King Goerge's bait-and-switch scams on the water we drink

Is this their idea of christian stewardship of natural resources?

You all know how this works, right? If Polluter A dumps his allowed 10,000 gallons of mercury into ground water, and Polluter B only dumps 8,000 gallons each year, Polluter B can sell his unused dumping "credits" to Polluter A, and the end result is still 20,000 gallons of mercury dumped into our ground water.

I used to think they believed we were all stupid. Now it's clear they believe we can't do anything about these crimes against nature. Are they right? For how long will we tolerate this?

The new rule will abandon a remedy favored by most
environmental groups in favor of a system of tradable
pollution allowances that is more congenial to industry.

Oh, stop it. Just stop it.

King Goerge's numbers on Social Security swirl down the crapper! Raise the terr alerts!

At least the terists ain't gonna hit college basketball during March Madness. As Winston Churchill said, "That would be something up with which we would not put." (Who do you think is leaving roundball alone, the terists or King Goerge's fearmongers?)

If I wasn't somewhat red-green colorblind, I'd have developed a color-coded B*(($#!+ Alert System a long time ago.

Report: Qaeda Ally May Target U.S. Theaters, Schools

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, al Qaeda's chief ally in Iraq (news - web sites), may be planning attacks on "soft targets" in the United States including movie theaters, restaurants and schools, Time magazine reported on Sunday.

White House national security adviser Stephen Hadley (news - web sites) would not discuss the specific warning, which Time said was circulated among U.S. security agencies last week in a restricted bulletin.

But he said the administration was concerned about reports -- "which we think are very credible" -- that Zarqawi is working more closely with Osama bin Laden (news - web sites)'s al Qaeda organization.

Hadley said movie theaters, restaurants and schools "are the kinds of targets we know that al Qaeda has traditionally been concerned about."

"But we, at this point sitting here, do not have evidence of a specific operation by Zarqawi's organization targeting those kinds of targets. We just don't have that kind of information at this point," Hadley told CNN's "Late Edition." (More)

Spend whatever it takes to keep terists from using motorcycles!

Oh, give me a break.

Next we'll spend zillions to keep the terists away from SkiDoos and hang gliders. Hey, what about those funny little motorbikes the Masons ride in parades? And ice cream trucks that could kill kids in our neighborhoods? And, and...remote-controlled model cars and planes? And skateboards? What about those water balloon slingshots? Why are we letting terists buy scuba gear, dive masks and swim fins? Oooh, noooo, we're all gonna die! Run awaaaaaayyyy...

People, there are no terists. How do I know there are no terists? Because THERE ARE NO TERISTS! If there were, they would have hit us again since 9/11. Have they hit us again? Has King Goerge caught any actual terists? THAT'S BECAUSE THERE ARE NO TERISTS!

Help Dr. Dean stop Dr. First

From Dr. Howard Dean:

"The Republican Senate leaders have decided to fundamentally alter the role of Congress -- they want to give George Bush unprecedented power to manipulate the legislative branch and the courts.

"Harry Reid and the Democratic Senators asked us, the American people, to help them preserve the right of our elected representatives to speak their mind on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

"We have to act. Sign this petition (click on headline), which we will deliver to every U.S. Senator, asking them to protect the right to free speech in the Senate. If they don't, it is not only their voice that will be silenced -- it will be ours."

Orwell nailed it: Neverending war

The war in Afghanistan at least used to make sense, which Iraq never did. But if King Goerge has stopped looking for Osama, who hasn't been in Afghanistan for years, and we're not doing anything about the heroin traffic, which is four times what it was two years ago, why are we still there? Could it be to control the Trans-Afghan Oil Pipeline? (Look it up.)

Mine Explosion Kills U.S. Soldier in Afghanistan; Myers Says U.S. Considering Long-Term Bases

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - A land mine killed a U.S. soldier in western Afghanistan, the American military said Wednesday, even as the top U.S. general insisted that security in the war-ravaged country was "exceptionally good."
News of the explosion came as Gen. Richard Myers said the United States is considering putting long-term bases in Afghanistan as it repositions its forces worldwide. (More)

Wage Peace: The Movie

Learn the real cost of King Goerge's war for Iraq's oil and global domination. Then calculate how many of his friends went or sent their kids to fight in it. (Hint: That would be NONE.)

"Christian" and "cancervative" are NOT synonyms

Many of us would argue that they're antonyms.

Keep getting to know Jim Wallis. Here's an interview from last week.

The election having been stolen (again), they don't even talk about the "war on terr" anymore

There is intense speculation in the corridors of Washington over where foreign policy might head in the next four years.

The US is on guard - but is that enough?

But while Iraq and Iran may top the list, you hear almost no talk - at least at the moment - about Washington's "war on terror" against al-Qaeda.

After an election in which the fear of an attack hung over the campaign, there is now little discussion over whether the US is winning or what victory might look like.

While there is lots of talk about which countries the US should seek to press over terrorism, there is not much sign yet of a renewed focus on the ideological struggle or the kind of "imagination" called for by the 11 September commission. (More)

If you truly get born-again, you become a better person

Ashley Smith did so, King Goerge didn't. Which one's story of salvation is more believable?

Pay close attention to the similarities in their young lives...shoplifting, drinking, financial problems.

Then pay attention to the differences in how they treated others who threatened them.

An example of why we shouldn't send our people to fight in stupid, unnecessary wars

On March 16, 1968, during the Vietnam War, the My Lai Massacre was carried out by United States troops under the command of Lt. William L. Calley Jr.

The sky is going to fall! Thank God for sending King Goerge to save us!

Be afraid; be very afraid of terists. Being afraid is patriotic. Being afraid is christian. Being afraid is all that matters.

Never mind that no terists have hit us since 9/11.

Never mind looking for Osama, WMDs, 1518 KIA, Halliburton, Enron, ANWR, Social Security, or anything else. Just be afraid. (It's the only polling topic where King Goerge does even a little well.)

Keep being afraid of everything but fascism. Fascism keeps us safe from invisible terists.

The Department of Homeland Security has identified a dozen
possible strikes it views as most plausible or devastating.

(Only a dozen? Whew, now we can start being afraid of Martians and asteroids. Ooh, and don't forget about cloned dinosaurs...and zombies and and werewolves and mole people...)

Freedom is on the coast

Farm out! Right arm! Powder to the people!

Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 10 announced...that it will honor the International Day of Protest Against the U.S. War and Occupation of Iraq by not working any cargo in San Francisco Bay Area ports on March 19.

Rethuglicons spend zillions for propaganda, nothing on veterans

And a lot of other crap these warmongering fascists are up to.

Don't blame soldiers for this ridiculous war

They didn't start it. King Goerge started it. There is already a special corner of hell waiting for him because of it. Not to worry, there's also plenty of room for Cheney, Rice, Dumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and all their warmongering fascist buddies.

Lying, fascist hypocrites can just shut up

When these bloviating blowhards start at least pretending to care about a war based on lies, war profiteering in the zillions, corporate piracy, industrial pollution, rigged elections, fascism, abomination and the systematic disassembly of the Constitution, I might...MIGHT take their slobbering about "decency" a tiny bit seriously.

Until then, they can just shut the hell up and find something to do that matters.

1518 empty pairs of boots

Somebody should put a few of them up King Goerge's illiterate, drunk, redneck, unelected, corrupt, fascist, warmongering ass. Then some more can go for Cheney, Dumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz, Der Ruschkopf, Spawn Hannity, Coultergeist and 1500 other fascist chickenhawks who demanded and enjoy this war, but won't get anywhere near a recruiting station.

Fricassee in hell, chickenhawks. And anybody who doesn't like it can come say so to my face.

Freedom really is on the loose at last

Fascist bullying isn't partisan, but standing up to it is. Hey, Dr. First...bite me.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democrats served notice Tuesday that they will slow or stop most Senate business if Republicans unilaterally change the rules to assure confirmation of President Bush's controversial court appointments.

Any such change would mark "an unprecedented abuse of power," Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nevada, wrote Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tennessee.

Reid, the Democratic leader, exempted military and national security legislation from the threat, and said Democrats would not block passage of measures needed to assure continuation of critical government services.

"To shut down the Senate would be irresponsible and partisan," Frist said in swift rebuttal. "The solution is simple: return to 200 years of tradition and allow up or down votes on judges."

GM scraps cars that DON'T pollute

Carmaker won't sell "green" cars to those who had leased them.

Vigil an Outlet for EV1 Fans
Enthusiasts hope their 24-hour presence at a GM facility in Burbank will change the firm's decision to scrap the last of its electric cars.

The vigil in Burbank is now in its fourth week, a period made miserable at times by torrential rains. Twenty-four hours a day, day in and day out, a dedicated group of enthusiasts has been camped out in front of the General Motors' facility here.

The group includes actors, engineers, automotive consultants and just plain car nuts. To a person, they fret about what fossil fuels do to the environment. Now sleep deprived from pulling night shifts on the curb, the protesters are here to save not whales or some other endangered species but 71 of the last of GM's legendary electric car, the EV1.

The threatened vehicles sit in a parking lot behind the building, where a GM employee plugs them in from time to time to keep them road-ready.

Okay, but where are all the terists who would use these weapons?

You know, the evildoers hiding under every bed, waiting to kill us because they hate us for our fiberty? Notice that NOT A SINGLE TERIST has been caught. Oh, they've arrested and tortured a ton of people, but most of them got cut loose, and none of the rest have been convicted of anything. No one wants these weapons in the country. But they weren't headed for terists. They were headed for street gangs, militias and the klan, among other home-grown terists King Goerge NEVER MENTIONS in his hogwash about his alleged war on terr.

U.S. authorities charge 18 with weapons-smuggling plot
NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. authorities charged 18 people in an alleged scheme to smuggle grenade launchers, shoulder-fired missiles and other Russian military weapons into the United States.

Former US Air Force Intelligence officer

The top U.S. general in Iraq, Army gen. George Casey, has stated that the US had no indication that Italian officials gave advance notice of the route of the vehicle in which Giuliana Sgrena and slain officer Nicola Calipari were riding. As a former Air Force intelligence officer, I would argue that this statement is absolutely ludicrous. Based upon intelligence collection capabilities of even 3 decades ago, it is reasonable to assume that the US intercepted all phone communication between Italian agents in Iraq and Rome, monitored such traffic in real time and knew precisely where Sgrena's vehicle was at all times, without advanced notice being provided by Italian officials. What passes for science in the parallel universe of Cancervatron

Read that, then read this.

"At the 1985 Conservative Political Action Conference, Cameron announced to the attendees, 'Unless we get medically lucky, in three or four years, one of the options discussed will be the extermination of homosexuals.' According to an interview with former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, Cameron was recommending the extermination option as early as 1983."

"At least twice Cameron has advocated the tattooing of AIDS patients on the face, so that people would know when they were meeting with an infected person. The penalty for trying to hide the tattoo would be banishment to the Hawaiian island of Molokai, a former leper colony. In the event that a vaccine were developed to prevent AIDS, Cameron has proposed that homosexuals be castrated to prevent them from 'cheating' on nature."

"I think that actually AIDS is a guardian. That is I think it was sent, if you would, about forty years ago, to destroy Western civilization unless we change our sexual ways. So it's really a Godsend."

People, I'm not imagining things when I say what I say about Neuropa being a combination of feudal Europe and the best of nazi Germany. They mean to cleanse America of EVERYBODY who's "not them."

Are you getting ready? They are. I am, too. You'd better.

“Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.” St. Francis

Here, here.

You know, there are a lot of people out there who really believe the religious wrong represent christianity. I'm talking about the unaffiliated, not the fascists. We may or may not get them to join us, but we surely can get them to see the differences between who we are and who the Falwellians, Robertsonians and Dobsonites are. I believe we can, and I know we must.

Make Congress remove tax-exempt status from partisan churches

This is a great site, easy to use.

Let those who voted for King Goerge explain why to these kids

"My mommy died yesterday in Iraq."

Children of the Fallen

Over 1,000 American kids have lost a parent in the Iraq war. Who they are, and how they're coping.

"They were prepared to die, even the truck drivers and supply clerks; any American who sets foot in Iraq must be. They made out wills, as the military requires, and left behind letters and videos for their families. The families in turn prepared for the day when they might open the door to find a chaplain on the other side. In military families the notion of duty is not confined to the battlefield. On the morning that 14-year-old Rohan Osbourne learned that his mother, Pamela, had been killed in a mortar attack on her Army base, his father dropped him off as usual at Robert M. Shoemaker High School, where three quarters of the students are the children of soldiers from nearby Fort Hood, Texas. "I might not get a lot of work done today, ma'am," Rohan politely explained to his teacher. "My mommy died yesterday in Iraq." (More)

He just lost his church's tax-exempt status!

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Two Americans working for a company that provides security for the U.S. Embassy were killed by a roadside bomb south of Baghdad, the embassy said Sunday.

Open letter to Dr. Howard Dean, the DNC and all living progressives

It's long past time for Democrats--and those like me who aren't really Democrats, but who must hold their noses and vote for Democrats because there's really no other choice (Die, Ralph Nader, for running in 2000!)--to do two extremely important things: You must get off guns and you must get off abortions.

If you'll do those two things, you'll never lose another election.

Notice in recent times that King Goerge never talks about guns at all, and leaves his demons in the NRA and GOA to tell all the lies about gun-grabbin' libruls who want burglars, rapists and terists to eat your families. Notice also that just about all the gun-control laws and regulations are truly stupid and simply ineffective. Crooks don't obey laws--gun laws or any other laws--only good people do. So do your homework and just STOP IT.

Notice also that King Goerge doesn't talk about abortions. He talks about "a culture of life," and paradoxically parades around such popular "pro-choice" buddies as the Schwarzenator and America's Adulterer, Giuliani. He then leaves his demons in the vr-wc and the really nasty demons in the televangelist universe to tell all the lies about how libruls want to make Soylent Green out of your babies and use it to feed terists and the French.

If we only heard King Goerge talk in his normal, clumsy fashion on these topics, we'd think he was an uncle with a hangover who wasn't really such a bad guy after all, just a little dimwitted and simpleminded. But the fact is he is surrounded by angry, bigotted and very active brownshirted, fascist bullies whose only purpose is to take care of identifying and demonizing enemies (libruls) and selling 87 brands of hatespeech about them.

The end result is that God-hating Democrats abhor families and like to kill babies, and only God-fearing cancervatives can save the traditional American family (like Ward and June Cleaver's).

People, a woman does not have the "right to choose" to end the life of a person of any age any more than a man does. A woman does, however, have the right to choose to be sexually responsible. She has the right to abstain from sex, the right to practice birth control, and the right to require her partner to practice birth control when she does engage in sex.

I want you to imagine what the culture war would become if that were the offical progressive position on "abortion." Then, somewhat less importantly, imagine what would happen if gun-grabbin' libruls would stop breaking into people's houses to take their guns, and actually learned something about gun people, their guns and ammo, and especially all the studies on how ineffective most gun laws have been for decades.

Those two changes in progressive platforms would swing millions, possibly tens of millions of single-issue voters who otherwise are "librul" in their views and lifestyles. I personally could deliver a dozen friends and associates from the dark side to the light.

How many could you deliver?

"God brought him to my door."

ATLANTA (March 14) - For hours, Ashley Smith gently talked to the armed suspect in Atlanta's courthouse slayings, turning from hostage to confidant as they discussed God, family, pancakes and the massive manhunt going on outside her apartment.
We all know the religious wrong will make hay out of this and use the story to prove, among other things, that libruls and activist judges should be burned at the stake.

Let me beat them to it.

What this story shows is the differences between a brave, gentle woman of strong, real faith and all the fascist abominations in the televangelical universe. We can easily imagine what would have gone down if this guy had broken in on Falwell, Robertson or Dobson, and wound up hearing frothy diatribes about welfare, affirmative action, activist judges, bootstraps, learning to fish, abortion, the death penalty, taxes and 9/11.

We also can easily imagine what would have happened if he'd broken in on another blonde "christian"...Coultergeist. He would have listened to her screeching-banshee voice braying about McCarthy, treason, libel, slander and killing Arabs for about as long as it took me to type this...and then would have blown her diseased brains all over the room.

1516 empty pairs of boots

Does anyone remember King Goerge's original lies? You know, WMDs, 9/11 and all those carpets of flowers the Iraqis would throw before our liberating troops?

As of Sunday, there have been 1516 Americans killed in Iraq. That's one for each of King Goerge's lies. About Gulf War II, I mean. All his lies about everything in the past four years add up to a number we'd have to calculate in scientific notation (10 to the 1516th power, or 10 with 1516 zeroes behind it).

And yet somehow, inexplicably, about half the people in this endangered country believe God put that fascist redneck in office. Twice. Is God that stupid? I hope not, or I'm joining the Druids.

What the vr-wc really mean when they whine about "librulbias"

Only stories that begin with, "God's man in the White House, King Goerge, said today..." and end with, "King of Kings! And Goerge of Goerge!" are, you know, fair 'n balanced news. Everything else is anti-American, anti-God, pro-terist, and latently communist, despite the commies' being out of business for 15 years.

Note that FAUXNEWS, for instance, never breaks a story. They wait for someone else to do the, you know, journalism, and then line up to take turns showing how each story proves cancervatives, King Goerge in particular, are God's best friends, and libruls, especially Hillary Clinton, hate America and eat babies.

Those who are addicted to spoutlets like FAUXNEWS, WingNutDaily (someone else coined that term; I wish I'd thought of it) and amtalkingheadradio desperately need at least a daily--and frequently and hourly--"fix" of their drug. And that drug is simply the electronic poison that programs the brain with the same concept every time: "Libruls are not just evil, they're stupid, and you really are better than they are. Give me your brain and your money, and I'll stop them."

They're always going to stop some newly-invented, imminent threat to America, the family, and everything God loves which, apparently, means white patriarchy, capitalism, and defense corporate welfare. For decades, it was commies, commies everywhere. Then in the '50s the threat to America was from the commies and the coloreds. In the '60s it was commies, coloreds, commie coloreds, and commie hippies--to include commie hippie feminists who didn't shave their legs. In the '70s queers started threatening America. In the '80s secular humanists got on board with the rest. (In the schools, remember? According to all reports, I was a secular humanist, but to this day I still don't know what it means. Whatever happened to that threat, anyway? Nobody ever came for me. I guess they "stopped" everybody but me.) In the '90s it became all things librul, especially feminazis and gun-grabbers, and "librul" became a two-syllable, pejorative word. Like "child molestor."
Now it's commies again, plus the usual librul suspects, immigrants with brown skin, lots of queers, the French, feminazis, and the coloreds again (pay attention to the neo-confederate groundswell as well as the neo-conservative one.) Notice that they never actually "stop" Jack $#!+. But a lot of cottage industries in the binniss of "stopping" all those enemies sure do rake in the dough.
The worst of the lot--and it's a very big lot--are so-called "compassionate cancervative christians." Never has so much hatespeech and such hideous lies been spewed on so many by so vile a bunch of abominations. When not only hatespeech propaganda, but aggressive action in the form of sub-legal policies in business and government, and even blatantly unconstitutional legislation get to the levels of intensity and coordination we're seeing daily, we must face the fact that there really is a "they," and that "they" really do want to get rid of "us." Meaning everyone who is "not them."
The move is toward cultural purity. They want a librul-free, theocratic state, Neuropa ("Noi-ropa." See archives.) that combines feudal Europe with nazi Germany, with a dash of Stalin's Russia thrown in for age. And "we" are getting to pay for all the fun.
"They" use "our" tax dollars against "us" more and more, knowing there's pitifully little "we" can do about it between elections. And given the rigged results Diebold and ES&S gave "them" last fall, not even elections offer us much hope anymore, especially since more and more Democrats In Name Only are becoming mere corporate whores and sissies who bring their own KY Jelly to the party.
So do not sit idly by when Halliburton gets contracts to start building relocation camps with our tax money. They won't be relocation camps. Or work camps. Oh, they'll tell us we're really serfs, and not slaves, and to be happy in our work because work makes you free ("Arbeit Macht Frei." Look it up.) But know that slavery has never been far from "their" minds.
Neither has the Final Solution II. Will you be ready? I will.

"Blame-America-firsters in biasedlibrulmedia defend those who look French in biasedlibrulmedia"

It's what the vr-wc fascist liars will say about this report. On the other hand, what the report actually says is...

NEW YORK The Project for Excellence in Journalism’s “State of the American News Media 2005,” released late Sunday, disputes charges of antiwar media bias (from the vr-wc), but found that President Bush received more “negative” coverage in the 2004 campaign than did Senator John F. Kerry.

And it determined that Fox News (sic) was the most one-sided of all major outlets. In fact, the idea that Americans are engaged in "partisan" news consumption isn't supported by the research. With the exception of Republicans who prefer Fox, most media use mirrors the general population, the study found.

The Project for Excellence in Journalism is affiliated with the Columbia University School of Journalism. The study was funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts.

The Washington-based Project examined more than 2000 stories on the war in Iraq and found that 25% of the stories were negative and 20 percent were positive. “The majority of stories were just news," said the Project’s director, Tom Rosenstiel. (More)

What I find most amusing about all the "biasedlibrulmedia" slobbering from the vr-wc is that since the worthlesscorporatemedia have become, well, the worthlesscorporatemedia, they more and more just stenograph and parrot the White House's lies, most notably of late the lies about Social Security. But all the others, too, and with no hard questions in return. Which is exactly what the White House spokeschannel, FAUXNEWS, does all day long. But they do it crudely for a crude and simple-minded audience. Which is why you see Coultergeist and Cal Thomas on FAUX.

The vr-wc yammeringheads remind of what Robert Vaughn, the bad guy, said in SUPERMAN III: "It's not enough that I win. Everyone else must lose." Every story on every broadcast of the vr-wc, especially FAUXNEWS, has the same subtext: "They suck, listen only to us." So much for all that alleged rethuglicon love for competition in the free marketplace, huh?

Nowadays, broadcast news needs referees for the same reasons hockey needs them...if, you know, there were hockey anymore. I wish Shrill O'Really? and Spawn Hannity could get time in the penalty box for spraying their sewage onto their rivals at other media spoutlets. Their fascist lies are bad enough without high-sticking Tom Brokaw and cross-checking Peter Jennings.

Freedom is on the mend

Thanks to all who came back after a few days of compassionate hacking from truth-fearing patriots. The freedom fighters at blogspot finally ran the skunks off. I appreciate all my visitors who, after a few days of low numbers, set a new high today. Again, thanks for dropping by.

You fight 'till hell freezes over, then you fight on the ice.

Remember when King Goerge said in the White House, "#*@% Saddam, I'm taking him out?"

He'd already said the same thing BEFORE he stole the first election.

Arab American Publisher Says Bush Told Him in May 2000 He Planned to "Take Out" Iraq

Excerpt of rush transcript:

The anti-populist
Traditionalist historian John Lukacs laments the direction of conservatism in America

POPULISM FIRST EMERGED in America in the late 19th century as a radical political movement pushing for labor reform, progressive taxation, the regulation of business, and economic justice for the little guy. But in recent decades, as observers like journalist Thomas Frank and historian Michael Kazin have pointed out, the populist notion of an embattled people fighting an entrenched elite has evolved into a staple of the conservative worldview. From Joseph McCarthy finding treason in ''the bright young men who are born with silver spoons in their mouths'' to Richard Nixon speaking up for ''the silent majority'' to George W. Bush complaining about those who ''think they're all of a sudden smarter than the average person because they happen to have an Ivy League degree*,'' the right has consistently won elections by talking the language of Power to the People.

(*King Goerge went to college where? Oh, yeah, Ivy League Yale. He was a cheerleader for the rugby team. No kidding.)

Orwell called it "Neverending war"

Now the neocons call it "war with no dimensions." Same thing. America seriously needs to do its homework on PNAC and the neocons.

"The war in Iraq occurred and it still commands widespread though diminishing emotional support. Thus there is still a place for a book like "America Alone: The Neo-Conservatives and the Global Order," a critique of foreign policy under Bush - and much more - from a principled conservative perspective.

"The authors are both veteran cold warriors with long-term diplomatic experience. Stefan Halper, now a fellow of Magdalene College at Cambridge, was a White House and State Department official in the Nixon, Ford and Reagan administrations, and is a contributing editor at the American Spectator. Jonathan Clarke, now at the Cato Institute, served in the British foreign service, with assignments in Germany, Zimbabwe and the United States.

"The two argue that part of the reason the West prevailed in the Cold War was that the United States, for the most part, retained superior moral authority vis-à-vis the Soviet empire. In the post-Soviet era, however, "its moral authority is at risk. That is because the policies adopted in response to the catastrophic horror of Sept. 11, 2001 have rested on a series of critically flawed premises, namely that the challenges we face are essentially military in character and that military power alone can deliver victory. And while that may be true when barbarian fights barbarian for strips of territory, it is a profound mistake when civilization hopes to emerge triumphant." (Much more)

King Goerge the Teddible appeases North Korea AGAIN!

Wait, you mean he only invades countries that can't fight back? What a wimp, just like his old man.

Interesting history: Iraq didn't have WMDs, but got invaded because it didn't get rid of them. Now North Korea can keep WMDs AND get "certain benefits" from King Goerge and his buddies. So is this because North Korea HAS NO OIL?!"!

US says North Korea need not completely disarm before reaping benefits

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The United States said that North Korea need not completely dismantle its nuclear weapons arsenal before receiving benefits under an aid-for-disarmament proposal offered to the Stalinist state.

Bad weather keeps Marines from recruiting goal for second straight month

Preacher: "Let King Goerge fix the Social Security crisis now or the Earth will explode"

Well, that's not quite what he said. But this is a not very subtle endorsement of King Goerge's SS scam. Although he is right about eliminating debt, so even I'll give him that. The rest? Not so much.

Jim Wallis talks about 'God's Politics...'

...and values – by which Wallis doesn't mean hate, greed, and war-mongering.

"... [R]eligion has to be disciplined by democracy. That means you don't enter the public square and say I'm religious so I ought to win. Or God has spoken to me directly and I have the fix for Social Security. You say my faith motivates me. It shapes my convictions or it compels me to act on behalf of the poor, or peace, or whatever." – Jim Wallis, God's Politics

Freedom is on the wagon; King Goerge should be, too

Why is it that only compassionate cancervatives believe a word the Lyin' King says, and the rest of the world does not?

It is not democracy that's on the march in the Middle East

Managed elections are the latest device to prop up pro-western regimes

From The Guardian

For weeks a western chorus has been celebrating a new dawn of Middle Eastern freedom, allegedly triggered by the Iraq war. Tony Blair hailed a "ripple of change", encouraged by the US and Britain, that was bringing democracy to benighted Muslim lands.
First the Palestinians, then the Iraqis have finally had a chance to choose their leaders, it is said, courtesy of western intervention, while dictatorships such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia are democratising under American pressure. And then in Lebanon, as if on cue, last month's assassination of the former prime minister triggered a wave of street protests against Syria's military presence that brought down the pro-Damascus government in short order.

At last there was a democratic "cedar revolution" to match the US-backed Ukrainian "orange revolution" and a photogenic display of people power to bolster George Bush's insistence that the region is with him. "Freedom will prevail in Lebanon", Bush declared this week, promising anti-Syrian protesters that the US is "on your side". The foreign secretary, Jack Straw, is expected to join the cheerleaders for Arab democracy in a speech today and warn the left not to defend the status quo because of anti-Americanism.

The first decisive rebuff to this fairy tale of spin was delivered in Beirut on Tuesday, when at least 500,000 - some reports said it was more like a million - demonstrators took to the streets to show solidarity with embattled Syria and reject US and European interference in Lebanon. Mobilised by Hizbullah, the Shia Islamist movement, their numbers dwarfed the nearby anti-Syrian protesters by perhaps 10 to one; and while the well-heeled Beiruti jeunesse dorée have dominated the "people power" jamboree, most of Tuesday's demonstrators came from the Shia slums and the impoverished south. Bush's response was to ignore them completely. Whatever their numbers, they were, it seems, the wrong kind of people. (Much more)

Soldier who exposed Abu Ghraib torture gets JFK award

Will the King Goerge Royal Library award Profiles in Ignorance Awards someday? Will the library have only briefing memos read to the king by his court jesters? Does King Goerge know what a library is?

Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin & Former Texas Senator Bill Ratliff
Named 2005 Profile in Courage Award Recipients

Army Specialist Joseph Darby to Receive Special Profile in Courage Award

U.S. Army Specialist Joseph M. Darby has been awarded a Special John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. Darby is recognized for standing up for the principles imbedded in the rule of law when he took action to expose the torture and humiliation of Iraqi prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison. The Profile in Courage Award Committee recognized that although the courage demonstrated by Darby was somewhat different than that required by elective office, it was nonetheless deserving of recognition.

Franklin, Ratliff and Darby will be formally presented with the Profile in Courage Award by Caroline Kennedy and Senator Edward Kennedy at a ceremony at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston on Monday, May 16. (More)

Poll: 7 in 10 worried about gov't secrecy

Americans feel strongly that good government depends on openness with the public, with seven out of 10 people concerned about government secrecy, a new poll says.
The poll, conducted by Ipsos-Public Affairs for Sunshine Week, a coalition of media organizations and other groups pressing for government access, found that more than half of Americans believe government should provide more access to its records.

Even more — 70% — are either "somewhat concerned" or "very concerned" about government secrecy. Nearly as many felt access to public records was "crucial" to good government.

The results come amid growing debate about openness at all levels of government in the years since the Sept. 11 attacks: Open-government advocates say the government has become more secretive at the price of a healthy democracy, while government defenders say the times demand that national security weigh a little more heavily in the balance between openness and privacy.

VR-WC outraged at anti-judge terrorism...

No, wait, they haven't said a word against it. Neither has King Goerge the Compassionate. He's too busy lying about Social Security to give a &#!+ about actual security, for judges or anybody else but his neocon fascist criminal friends.

No wonder NPR got rid of Bob Edwards

NPR used to be the last bastion of real journalism in America. No more. Which is why this fine newsman no longer works there.

DANVILLE-- Louisville native Bob Edwards warned last night that the United States is in a period like the McCarthy era of the 1950s, in which the government is stifling political dissent while the news media and the public fail to speak out in vigorous opposition.

Speaking at Centre College, Edwards, a host for XM Satellite Radio, said the "Bush administration holds reporters in contempt" and has become the "all-time champion of information control."

Edwards built a theme based on a quote by Bush's former press secretary, Ari Fleischer, in the wake of 9/11: "People should watch what they say."

Edwards also said journalists "have done a terrible job explaining their role to the public."

He quoted Edward R. Murrow's famous TV response to Sen. Joseph McCarthy's communist witch hunt: "We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty," and "we cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home."

See? I'm not paranoid. Legitimate journalists think King Goerge is a fascist, too. Ready to stand up and fight back yet?

"Speak poorly and wave a big stick"

King Goerge vs. Teddy da Roose (on foreign policy)

The Lyin' King disgraces the last decent republican president's legacy by sending nuke carrier named after him to threaten Iran and Syria.

Everybody who voted for this fascist redneck better get ready to ruck up for Gulf War III, or find a way to blame the libruls for the coming draft...which they're already doing.

King Goerge, neocons welcome Qadhafi into the fold

One dictator joins in another dictator's quest to eliminate peace-keeping abilities of UN for neocon world hegemony. Why would Qadhafi do this? Easy...he'll be rich and safe (he thinks) while King Goerge conquers the planet. Clearly Qadhafi knows no history whatsoever.

Libya Blocks Visit by Rights Group

Torture, Political Trials, Treatment of Migrants Remain Major Concerns

(New York, December 7, 2004) The Libyan government has blocked a scheduled visit by a Human Rights Watch research team. The team was slated to begin a three-week fact-finding trip on Tuesday, but the Libyan government has withheld the visas, Human Rights Watch said today.

“The Libyan government says it is opening to the world, but it behaves as if there is much to hide,” said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East director at Human Rights Watch. “They are letting in oil companies and tourists, but keeping out human rights groups.”

The United States and European Union have rewarded Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi and the Libyan government for renouncing terrorism and weapons of mass destruction by lifting sanctions and trade embargoes. Heads of state and business leaders have flocked to Tripoli in recent months as the economy slowly reforms.
